Happy New Year Darlings!!...and a Happy Diana Dors too!!

Heyup, you lovely lovelies, you! Sozzles for my absence for so very long, but things got quite busy the end of the year. I moved back to The Smoke in November and have been neglecting you sweety pies! No longer, I tell you!

My first post of the year shall be a vintage inspiration post.....

I've recently become slightly obsessed with an early/mid '70s British telly program called 'Thriller'. It's quite good and I highly recommend it to all you vintage lovin' mamas and papas. Well, last night's installment was entitled "Nurse Will Make It Better" or "The Devil's Web". It first aired in 1975 and starred the fantabulous Diana Dors as the nurse from hell...literally.

Even through the haggish makeup, you can see the beauty that earned her the nickname, 'The English Marilyn Monroe'.

Here's a little gallery showing her smoking hot highness in action. Warning: Major vintage hair inspirations following....

GORGEOUS GORGEOUS GORGEOUS!!

Digging the 60's and 70's...Out of My Mom's Old Dresser Drawers....

As promised, my little rosebuds, here are pics of the stash of my mom's old chokers that I found at my Pappy's yesterday!
But first, a little pic of my mom and dad on their first date in 1971, which was around the time she would have been wearing these lovelies!...I wish she still had the necklace she's got on in the photo...it's absolutely brill!

I found this necklace as well, under the pile of chokers....

...as well as a half full bottle of Vanda 'Captiva' perfume that had also belonged to mom!....

I've tried looking up 'Captiva' as well as Vanda, the company that made it to find out more about it...no joy. Must not have been too popular or made in mass quantities for any period of time. Anyone who knows anything about either the company or the perfume, let me know!

Happy weekend, poppits!!!

Wigging Out!!!

Right! So I really enjoyed posting those great men's clothing ads yesterday...so much that today I wanted to share some more adverts from many of the same publications. The music mags featured ads geared toward the girlies as well. For todays postie, I wanted to share some of the lovely mail order wig ads I found!

Another blogger I follow said the other day that when she finds ads like this she wishes she could just send the money off to the address and get a lovely brand new whatever it was they were selling! I wish that about these wigs and falls! I want just about every one of them!

And the NAMES!....'Tigress', 'Gypsy Love', 'Darling New You', 'Fonda'....Terrific!!

The Rock Star Knack...And How to Get It--1974

Want to dress like Ziggy my little lambs? Or how about the boys from Slade? Well here's your definitive contemporary guide. Published thirty-seven years ago this month in Circus Raves music magazine, this article actually gives a pretty good summary of the various styles prevalent in popular performers' wardrobes at the time. It also gives mention to some of the shops and designers they used. It's a great guide!
The thing most of my beloved readers will find most interesting is on the last page under the heading 'Nostalgia'. Apparently the 1974 term for 'Vintage'. Interestingly...and very wrongly...the writer of the article says of Nostalgia:

"But really, how far can nostalgia go anyway? There are only so many defunct TV series and Humphrey Bogart movies to draw from."

I beg to differ!!!.....and I'm sure many of you will to, won't you petals??? If they only knew then what we know now, eh?

***Here's some scans I made of my copy of the magazine. As per usual, simply click on the images and magnify to read the entire article....

Here are a few photos of some of the lovelies mentioned in the article.....

Now, go on my dears and get fabulous!! You know you want to....
